Go Flames.

Wonder how Chiasson on the top line is going to work. He has played well enough that he should get a look. If he can just play a simple game and create some havoc inform of the net he might work out.

According the the Flames website, the Hurricanes are swapping out Nakladal for Dahlbeck: https://www.nhl.com/flame...vs-hurricanes/c-282861996

I agree kid played great. But so did Ferland. A little bit of competition might not be a bad thing. Might also want to work on a certain aspect of Tkachuks game.

I don't think these lines will be set in stone.

So we get a 9 game evaluation period period for Tkachuk, who's done well so far, and now we're going to put him on the 4th line in favor of Ferkland?!! This defies even logic. I guess the sun has gone back to rotating around the Earth... Good God Coach GG...

You guys need to just replax.. the stajan line is still getting over 11 minutes a night which is what tkachuk has been averaging. With versteeg also on that line I don't think he will be playing 4th line minutes. GG has been rolling his lines pretty evenly and it has looked really well. You have too mix your players up so you can see how they all play together to get the best line combos. If they don't look good together I'm sure they will be changed mid game

Relax man. If the kid plays well he will get ice time. GG is still trying to feel out his lines. IMO Ferland played really well also and deserves a reward for that. I think we weill see Tkachuk back with Bennet at some point during the game.

Now if the Tkachuk plays all game on the 4th and has a stellar game then yes....by all means grab your brown bag.

I hate all modern coaches. Leave the lines alone for a bit.

Its still early. Hes looking to see what gels. As long as we don' t see what Hartley did in mixing the lines game after game until the end, I'm ok.

By Christmas we'll have a better idea of what he is and what we have...

Except every line has been looking better every game and the BFF line has been fantastic. Why blow everything up?

The move to the "4th" line was based on his play with Stajan more than anything. Stajan happens to reside on the 4th line.

I am seeing a bunch of people wound up about Tkachuk on the fourth line and just wanted to add in something.
Horvat in his rookie campaign primarily played 4th line center with Kenins (off to Europe) and Dorsett. He has 13 goals and 12 assists in 68 games on the fourth line playing much lesser competition. Glen Gulutzan was the assistant for that year. It might not be a bad idea. It doesn't automatically mean he is getting punished, it just give him some experience to adjust to the speed of the NHL without playing other teams top lines?

The 4th line also doesn't mean what it used to. Teams now need 4th lines that can play hockey. His ice time isn't going to go down.

I'm a little confused. GG saw the Tkachuk line give up the first goal and that Ferland was Really on his game so he shuffled the lines a bit to try and get something going. The result was Ferland scoring on his first shift with Bennett and Brouwer.
This line did give up the next goal to Buffalo on Foligno's goal, but that was just a great individual effort and a wicked shot that few( if any) goalies would have stopped.
The line shifting also lit a fire under Tkachuk which brought out his physical game, his intensity and Matthew's first NHL goal which tied the game and got us to OT.
Looks to me like the coach made the necessary "in game" adjustments that led to a win. What more do you want from a coach?
Versteeg wasn't really clicking with Johnny and Mony, so moving Chiasson up to have a look isn't a bad thing either.
I especially like that Tkachuk is now on a line that has 2 very defensively responsible veterans on it to guard against his weak skating. He seems to improve on a daily basis , and is obviously working on it.
The great thing about Matthew is that the part of his game that is deficient is something that can be worked on and improved. Skating improves with proper instruction and effort. If he had hands of stone, and low hockey IQ, there'd be nothing he could do to fix it. Fortunately, Tkachuk has a high hockey IQ, knows where to go to get scoring chances, and has the hands to score goals.
When he is firing on all cylinders, I don't thing GG will hesitate to move him back with the 93, 36 line.

I say "Nice adjustment coach, it won us the game!"

4th lines have never been more important and utilized (IMO) than what they are now. His ice time MAY decrease but that shouldn't worry anybody. He is still learning and adjusting and feeding him first line minutes coming out of Junior might not be the best thing for him now. I certainly wouldn't throw a fit over it though. It isn't a dig to him or his play.
